Refund Policy & Shipping Policy
Expandia Homes LTD — Effective Date: 14 March 2026
1. Application
This Refund and Shipping Policy applies to all purchases and pre-orders of expandable container homes made through expandia.co.nz or directly with Expandia Homes LTD. By placing an order or paying a deposit the purchaser agrees to the terms outlined in this policy.
2. Pre-Order Nature of Products
Expandable container homes are often sold on a pre-order basis before shipment arrives in New Zealand. Pre-orders reserve a manufacturing or shipment allocation. Because the product is allocated specifically to the purchaser, cancellation rights are limited once production or shipping allocation has been confirmed.
3. Deposits
Deposits are required to secure a unit during pre-order. Deposits are non-refundable once manufacturing allocation has been confirmed, shipment allocation has been confirmed, or a unit has been reserved for the purchaser. Deposits may only be refunded where required under New Zealand consumer law.
4. Order Cancellation
Orders cannot be cancelled once manufacturing or shipment allocation has commenced unless Expandia Homes LTD agrees in writing. Where cancellation is accepted, Expandia Homes LTD may retain part or all of the deposit to cover administration costs, international logistics costs, supplier commitments, and currency fluctuations.
5. Refund Eligibility
Refunds may only be provided where required by applicable New Zealand law including circumstances where goods are proven to have a major defect that cannot be remedied. Refunds will not be issued for change of mind, site access problems, council consent requirements, delays outside the control of Expandia Homes LTD, or incorrect site preparation by the purchaser.
6. Consumer Guarantees
Where goods are purchased for personal use the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies. Where goods are purchased for business purposes the purchaser agrees that the Consumer Guarantees Act may be contracted out of to the maximum extent permitted by law.
7. Shipping and Delivery Arrangements
Expandable container homes are delivered using heavy transport providers. Delivery arrangements may include flatbed truck transport, hiab crane trucks, and mobile crane placement where required. Delivery costs are quoted separately unless otherwise stated.
8. Delivery Timeframes
Delivery timelines are estimates only. Delivery may be affected by international shipping schedules, port congestion, customs clearance, weather conditions, and road transport availability. Expandia Homes LTD is not responsible for delays caused by factors outside its reasonable control.
9. Site Access Requirements
The purchaser must ensure the delivery site is suitable for heavy transport and crane access. Requirements may include adequate road width, turning space for trucks, stable ground conditions, and safe crane setup areas. If delivery cannot occur due to site conditions additional transport or crane costs may apply.
10. Risk Transfer During Delivery
Risk in the product transfers to the purchaser once the product has been delivered to the nominated delivery location or collected by the purchaser or their transport provider. Customers are responsible for ensuring adequate insurance cover once delivery occurs.
11. Freight Damage
Customers must inspect the product immediately upon delivery. Any freight damage must be reported immediately so that claims can be made with the freight carrier. Failure to report freight damage within a reasonable timeframe may be considered acceptance of the product condition.
12. Failed Delivery
If delivery cannot be completed due to site access issues or customer unavailability additional delivery charges may apply including transport rescheduling, crane stand-down fees or storage costs.
13. Storage Fees
If a customer delays delivery after the unit arrives in New Zealand Expandia Homes LTD may charge storage fees until delivery can be completed.
14. Force Majeure
Expandia Homes LTD is not responsible for delays or inability to deliver caused by events outside reasonable control including natural disasters, shipping disruptions, port closures, strikes, government restrictions or supply chain issues.
